We recently photographed a wedding at The Rustic Wedding Barn, a lovely venue just 30 minutes south of Edmonton, Alberta, with 1500 square feet of space and seats up to 80 guests.
The beautiful rustic barn has a view of the Alberta prairies and sits alongside a canola field, a treed area perfect for a ceremony, and other locations like a gazebo and sitting area.
Christelle and Nick, our beautiful wedding couple, looked amazing all day with a navy and white colour theme.
The venue was decorated throughout the property with decor to match the bride and groom.
While the day had spurts of rain throughout and a constant hovering of a thunderstorm that wanted to happen, the day stayed decently dry, and we had a blast doing the wedding photography!

The Rustic Wedding Barn features unique options for photography throughout the property.
This list below is not a complete list of all the features, but some of the main areas we spent most of our day providing the wedding photos.
We started the day with the ceremony which took place in a lovely forest clearing that provided a foresty woods backdrop perfect for those nature and lovers of green tones.
This provided a neat experience to have the groom and guests waiting in anticipation for the bride to enter through the secluded, decorated path into the clearing.
The guests were seated on rustic wooden benches with decor provided by the venue.
This secluded clearing protected guests from strong wind gusts and showcased beautiful trees.
Although there were occasional periods of rain, the trees helped reduce the impact of windy weather on the guests (especially the ones who didn’t have umbrellas!).
Right next to the wedding barn is an old wooden fence backed by a canola field. While the field wasn't yet in full bloom, it was still a perfect golden-hour backdrop for amazing sunset photography.
We snuck away from the reception at the perfect time to capture these.
We were thankful the thunderstorm clouds rolled away for these perfect shots—the photographer’s dream to shoot at golden hour.
An amazing venue that features 1500 square feet of indoor space with enough room to seat up to 80 guests for the perfect intimate wedding.
The walls are rustic wood, and a small entryway is available that the bride used for her entrance.
This wedding had full tables along the side set up with decor, appetizers, refreshments and a corner bar set up for the bartender.
Along the other side, there were also tables for the wedding party, with lots of room for many tables and guests to enjoy the lovely evening inside the barn, including the area for dances, speeches, and performances.
The glow of the provided strung lights gives the room a warm, moody, and cozy vibe.
The barn door can also be opened to provide brighter natural light if needed, but our couple chose to keep it closed and enjoy the warm glow as their preference, and it was perfect.
There is also a gazebo on the property that would be great for another photography location or for a ceremony.
With the busy day and windy weather, the couple opted to stay closer to the treed areas and inside the venue.
This all-in-one venue has a lot to offer and gives the wedding couple many options depending on the style they are looking for.
The different scenic backgrounds, ranging from fields to woods in the Alberta prairies with a rustic ambiance, create a beautiful aesthetic to look back on your wedding photos.
